Peanut Butter Black Cherry Smoothie

Need a tasty, filling snack in a hurry? This peanut butter black cherry smoothie comes together in about 5 minutes.

For the longest time my local grocery stores either didn’t have dairy free yogurt or if they did carry it, the only choices were vanilla and blueberry. By some small miracle, one store has expanded its horizons and now has several different flavors of Silk yogurt, including black cherry which is one of my favorites. Score!

This smoothie is super simple to make and if you’d like, compliment your smoothie by adding fresh fruit or a little shredded coconut or granola on top. You can also stir in some chia seeds or ground flax seeds for added nutrition. Just make sure that you use ground flax seeds instead of whole ones since they’re easily digested when ground up.

The recipe below makes one serving, but it can doubled or tripled.

What You’ll Need:

  • Single serving container Silk brand black cherry yogurt
  • 7 or 8 Ice cubes
  • 1/2 Cup Unsweetened Plant Based Milk (almond, cashew or refrigerated coconut milk)
  • 1 Tbs natural, unsweetened peanut butter
  • Two or three drops of vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp to 3/4 tsp sugar or your favorite sweetener
  • One small banana, cubed (optional)

How To:
Put the ice cubes into a blender and use the “crush ice” feature. Then add in the yogurt, plant based milk, peanut butter and vanilla. Blend them together for a few seconds. Add in 1/2 tsp of sugar and blend. Taste test the smoothie to see if it is sweet enough. If not, add in a bit more sugar. If you’d like, add a small banana to the smoothie, too.

Grab a spiffy glass and pour your smoothie. Add a cute straw like this ridiculous, Pinterest ready pink and white swirled one from the $1 section at Target.
